The invisible radiation from lasers such as CO2 is particularly dangerous because it does not trigger the blink reflex that shields the eyes. This is because the eye's defense mechanism works only in the visible light range and is effectively tricked by lasers that emit invisible rays. Therefore, the use of safety glasses is an essential part of every operator's job.
